How your clutter creates community at Shore Junction

At Shore Junction, we believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to discover their potential, learn a new craft, and contribute to a more sustainable future. As we continue to grow, we are seeing firsthand how hands-on learning transforms lives. However, to keep our spaces humming and our programmes accessible, we rely on the generosity of our local community.

If you are clearing out your cupboards or upgrading your office, your excess might be exactly what a young person needs to spark a new passion. Here is how you can help:

1. Our community wardrobe is a resource for young people who need a boost for job interviews, school events, or simply everyday confidence. We are currently seeking clean, high-quality clothing and accessories. By donating items you no longer wear, you are helping us provide a dignified way for youth to access the gear they need to feel their best.

2. One of our most popular initiatives involves pulling apart the mystery of technology. We take old laptops, tablets, and various electronics. Under the guidance of our youth workers, young people engage in tech upcycling, learning how to repair, repurpose, or safely recycle e-waste. This not only keeps harmful materials out of landfills but also equips the next generation with essential hardware skills that are increasingly vital in the modern workforce.

3. Our art and design studios are constantly in use, but they require a steady stream of materials. We are always on the lookout for:

• Sewing supplies and fabric off-cuts.

• Art supplies: Paint, brushes, canvases, and sketchbooks.

• Tools: Basic woodworking or hand tools for our workshop projects.

Every item donated to Shore Junction is a tool for education. When a young person learns to sew a hem, repair a circuit board, or fix up a laptop, they are building new skills and problem-solving abilities. If you have items to donate or want to learn more about our current wish list, please drop by our facility in Takapuna or visit our website. Together, we can turn your unwanted items into the building blocks of a young person's future.
