I’m excited to announce the launch of Well Foundation’s Christmas Appeal, including a special Christmas tree that you can help decorate! This year, we’re raising vital funds for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at North Shore Hospital. Many local families will remember spending precious, anxious days there with their premature or unwell newborns.

While the care provided by the wonderful doctors and nurses is nothing short of extraordinary, the physical environment within the SCBU requires an upgrade. Due to a lack of family spaces in the unit, some mums and dads have had the heartbreaking experience of welcoming their children into the world, only to head home from hospital without them. For first-time parents, and for those families with babies receiving care for weeks or months, the experience can be especially difficult.

Thankfully, a new Special Care Baby Unit is on the way, but we need community support to help provide extra spaces for families and those special touches that make hospital feel a little more like home. Your donation can help provide comfortable chairs, which fold down to beds overnight, so parents don’t have to leave their little ones behind when they need somewhere to sleep. Your support will also help fund dedicated parent rooms, kitchens, and quiet spaces that will give families greater privacy, comfort and precious time together.

Donate $50 or more, and we'll place a pair of hand-knitted baby booties on the Christmas tree in the reception of North Shore Hospital, before gifting them to a family in the unit. Let’s fill the tree and show families just how much they are cared for!
