We’re holding our annual Christmas event on Saturday 28 November with entertainment between 10am and 3pm on stage amongst markets and food stalls.
Monique the Star is back as MC for the event, which starts at 10am with the Milford Choir singing all your favourite Christmas tunes. So come along early and join in. After the choir, Monique will introduce the superb entertainment for the kids to have fun, along with updates on all things happening around the town centre during the event.
Here’s a list of what to expect! But wait… there’s more, as some have not been finalised yet. Check out the ‘Christmas in Milford’ special events FB page for the full list!
- Santa will be in his grotto in the centre court of the Milford Centre where the kids can have photos taken with him.
- Nearby, Fine-O-Wines will be sampling some beautiful organic and vegan wines, ideal for Christmas and exclusive to them.
- Well Hung Butchery will have their sausage sizzle operating again, and after picking up awards at the recent New Zealand sausage-making competitions, they will be the place to go for a tasty bite.
- Cheeseland will be sampling their range of fine cheeses – ideal when making your cheese platters for Christmas.
- New to Milford this year, Blak will have a marquee for you to browse through and get something special to wear.
- Cam, the new owner of New World, is getting involved and will have an activation around his store entrance... But you’ll have to check it out on the day to find out what it is!
- Ray White will again be turning its auction room into Santa’s grotto with a magical path winding its way to Santa and the opportunity to have a picture taken with him. Wow, Santa is going to be busy running between the TWO grottos we have in Milford!
- Many of our businesses will have their Christmas window displays, and during the event we will be announcing the winners of the competition for the four best window displays.
- My Markets is again involved in supplying a range of different market stallholders to bring the market atmosphere to the event. Sarah has already started posting stallholders on the special ‘Christmas in Milford’ FB events page, so if you want to know if your favourite stallholder will be there, check out the page.
- Starting in early November, our Christmas decorations will start appearing in the main street. This year we bring back the Christmas stars that shine at night on the Challenge and New World verandas, as well as our pole banners, unique Christmas trees and plenty of Christmas window displays.
New businesses
With all the Christmas announcements, I almost ran out of space for new business announcements. We are pleased to welcome three new businesses:
- APT Collections and Professional Nails, both in the Milford Centre.
- Little 'Lato Gelateria, which has opened in ‘up town’ Milford in the former L.L. Speedy & Sons building.
Yachting fans
We haven’t forgotten that the PredictWind Zephyr Matt Mitchell Memorial and Sunburst North Island regatta is being held off Milford Beach from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November.
