Take a read online
World Environment Day, Thursday 5 June, is a timely reminder that local action matters on a global scale. Celebrate it with us at the Wairau Estuary Care & Connect event on Friday 13 June, 1–3pm. We'll be planting native trees to support the wildlife that calls this estuary home.
No experience needed – just enthusiasm. We’ll provide all tools, but please wear clothes you can get muddy in! Afterwards, we'll share kai (our shout!) and celebrate our mahi together. A perfect way to meet your neighbours and give back to the place we all love. And this is just the start. We have more native tree planting events coming through the winter months – always popular with families, and spots go fast. Head to our Humanitix page to secure yours before they're gone.
Connecting with our Asian communities
We're proud to be running a series of events specifically for our Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin-speaking communities this season. Join us for a Kennedy Park coastal tour with Japanese members of Age Concern and coming in June: a Love Food Hate Waste and container gardening workshop for Japanese and Korean communities in partnership with Age Concern. We also host a monthly Mandarin seed exchange in Sunnynook – a lovely way to connect, share, and grow together. If you or someone you know would be interested in any of these events, please reach out to our Asian community liaison, Grace Samuelson, who would love to help (acl@takapunatrust.org.nz).
A big thank you to Auckland Council, Devonport-Takapuna Local Board, and Healthy Waters for their ongoing support. Search Pupuke Birdsong Project on Humanitix to see all upcoming events and register. For more information and to book, scan the code, go to our website, or give us a call.
